Recently, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, announced that users can now delete their Threads account without deleting their Instagram account.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, launched a new social media platform called ‘Threads’ on July 6th. The platform garnered millions of sign-ups shortly after its launch due to its multiple features akin to Twitter. However, some users expressed dissatisfaction due to limited features on Threads.

Users previously could only deactivate their Threads account without the option to completely delete it if they wished to keep their Instagram account active. There were reports of a decline in user numbers and app usage within a week of Threads’ introduction, likely due to the lack of updates and functionalities.
However, Adam Mosseri recently announced that users can now delete their Threads account independently without deleting their Instagram account. To do so, users need to access the settings menu of their Threads, click on the option ‘Delete or Deactivate Profile,’ and then proceed to delete their Threads account entirely.

This change comes right after a Meta update where the company announced that Threads users can now post on their Facebook and Instagram feeds without sharing their Threads. Despite Meta’s efforts to meet user demands, the web version of Threads was introduced earlier but lacks several features available on Twitter, including trending threads, space features, and lists. Notably, immediate hashtag functionality is also absent on this new platform
