The Lahore High Court (LHC) addressed a petition challenging the Punjab police’s practice of detaining underage drivers, directing the immediate release of these individuals.

Advocate Rana Sikandar filed the plea against the Punjab police’s action of detaining underage drivers, prompting Justice Zia Ali Bajwa of the LHC to order the police to release them.

Furthermore, the high court has prohibited the provincial police from filing cases against underage drivers for driving license violations. Previously, the court had mandated the release of teenage drivers with a personal guarantee that they would abstain from driving.

Meanwhile, as per a spokesperson, Rawalpindi District Police have lodged 147 FIRs against underage drivers within the last 24 hours. The spokesperson disclosed a total of 2,673 FIRs filed during the ongoing campaign.
