The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a corruption reference against former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and his son, Moonis Elahi, accusing them of receiving kickbacks totalling Rs1.23 billion in connection with development projects in their home district of Gujrat.

The reference alleges that Parvez Elahi, who is also the President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), abused his position to award contracts for 116 development projects to individuals who would pay kickbacks. The kickbacks were then transferred to bank accounts belonging to Moonis and other family members, including over Rs745 million for Parvez Elahi himself.
