The ECC approved the import of 2 lakh metric tons of urea, while summarizing the increase in retail prices of 262 medicines.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the Economic Coordination Committee, chaired by caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar, approved the import of 2 lakh metric tons of urea.
The announcement will be implemented through a tender at the local level for the next season and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan has been directed to make arrangements in this regard. The Ministry of Energy has approved the supply of gas to two urea plants.

The ECC also approved a cash credit limit of Rs540 billion for Punjab and Sindh from July-September 2023 and Rs214 billion for Sindh during the same period.
According to the Ministry of Finance, at the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee, the Ministry of National Health submitted a summary on the recommendation of the Drug Pricing Committee, the ECC again objected to the recommendations as incomplete.The summary recommended an increase in retail prices of 262 drugs, which was set aside.
According to the statement, the summary of the increase in the prices of medicines has been postponed twice before.
