The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCCA) is in the process of implementing e-gates at key airports across the country, notably Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. This strategic decision aims to streamline immigration procedures, aligning Pakistan’s airports with systems commonly seen in developed nations.

Sources at the airports revealed that the installation of e-gates has commenced at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore, and Islamabad International Airport. Discussions have been underway with a United Arab Emirates company, acting on behalf of PCAA, to execute this modern facility.

Upon successful installation, these e-gates will offer passengers at major Pakistani airports the convenience of bypassing lengthy immigration queues, mirroring the efficient systems observed in Dubai and other advanced nations. However, access to this facility will require passengers to possess an e-passport.

The initiative is geared towards enhancing the overall travel experience by expediting immigration processes and ensuring smoother transitions for travelers.
