215 New dengue cases Known in Punjab; Public Alertness Is Urgently Needed

Punjab is still in the grip of a dengue outbreak, with 215 new cases reported on Wednesday.

According to the most recent Health Department data, a total of 10,758 confirmed Dengue cases have been reported in Punjab this year across 36 districts.Lahore leads the way with a staggering 4,675 cases so far, closely followed by Rawalpindi with 2,414, Multan with 1,069, Faisalabad with 518, and Gujranwala with 969.

Lahore reported 117 new dengue cases in the last 24 hours, Rawalpindi 31, Multan 9, Gujranwala 29, Faisalabad 14, Sheikhupura 5, and Rahimyar Khan 2, while Kasur, Muzaffargarh, Sahiwal, Okara, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Khushab, and Bhakkar each reported one case.

Currently, 192 dengue patients were being treated in hospitals across Punjab, with 103 of them being treated in Lahore district hospitals.

Ali Jaan Khan, the Secretary of Health Punjab, issued an impassioned plea to citizens, urging them to keep their surroundings clean and dry as a preventive measure against dengue fever. He also urged collaboration with health department teams working tirelessly to combat the outbreak.

A free helpline was available through the health department at 1033 for those in need of dengue treatment, information, or wishing to register complaints. To control the alarming spread of Dengue in Punjab, vigilance and proactive measures were essential.
