PTA Decides to Impose Charges on Reactivation of Inactive Mobile SIMs Used for Less Than 6 Months

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to impose charges on the return of mobile SIMs that have been inactive for less than 6 months. This decision was announced on November 10, 2023.

According to the PTA, a fee of Rs. 200 will be applied for the return of inactive SIMs, and this charge will come into effect from January 1, 2024. The PTA states that users can voluntarily deactivate unnecessary SIMs without any charges until December 31, 2023.

Additionally, the PTA mentioned that in the case of illegal SIM usage, the option to deactivate the SIM once without charges will be allowed.
