Naqvi filed a second petition against the SJC

While passionately disputing the multiple allegations levied against him, Supreme Court judge Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi has asked the supreme court to dismiss the Supreme Judicial Council’s (SJC) misconduct proceedings against him. Justice Naqvi has also asked the court to declare the SJC’s second and updated show cause notice issued on November 22 as “without legal authority” in his second constitution suit, which was filed on Thursday.

Separately, the judge has written to a three-member Supreme Court committee constituted under the recently published Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act, 2023, requesting that his constitutional petitions and applications for interim relief be listed as soon as possible.
