In a significant development, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has taken decisive action in the ongoing legal saga surrounding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Moonis Elahi and his family. On Monday, the LHC issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Tehreem Elahi, wife of Moonis Elahi, in connection with a money laundering case being pursued by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The decision came during a hearing presided over by a two-member bench led by LHC judge Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhary. The court was hearing a plea seeking the cancellation of bail for Rasikh Elahi, Tehreem Elahi, and others allegedly involved in the case.

This latest development follows a series of legal actions against Moonis Elahi, who was previously declared a fugitive by a special court in the same money laundering case. Despite repeated court summons, Moonis Elahi has remained absent, prompting the court to issue a permanent arrest warrant against him.

In a related move, the Special Central Court in Lahore has ordered the seizure of all assets and bank accounts belonging to Moonis Elahi. This action underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the judiciary’s determination to ensure accountability in cases of financial misconduct.

The court has also demanded a comprehensive report on the freezing of accounts and assets, highlighting the need for thorough investigation and transparency in dealing with such matters. However, concerns have been raised about Moonis Elahi’s alleged deliberate evasion of arrest, prompting calls for cooperation from relevant institutions to facilitate the legal process.

As the legal proceedings unfold, this latest development underscores the gravity of the situation facing Moonis Elahi and his family, highlighting the imperative of upholding the rule of law and combating financial crimes in Pakistan.
