HEC and Microsoft Introduce AI Skilling Program and Founders Hub in Pakistan

Islamabad recently witnessed a significant advancement in educational technology as the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and tech giant Microsoft renewed their partnership. This collaborative effort was reaffirmed through the signing of the Education Transformation Agreement (ETA), marking a strong commitment to revolutionize technological education across Pakistan.

The ceremony celebrated the launch of multiple initiatives, aiming to foster innovation among students. These included the Imagine Cup competition, Founders Hub, and AI Skilling programs, designed to inspire students to showcase creative ideas and entrepreneurial ventures. The event, graced by Hassan Nasir Jamy, the Federal Secretary for the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication, highlighted the importance of this collaborative stride.

Jibran Jamshad, Country Principal Officer & Regional Education Lead at Microsoft, underscored the significance of this collaboration in the era of artificial intelligence. “In this AI-driven era, our partnership with HEC through the ETA signifies our commitment to nurturing innovation and equipping the youth with essential future skills,” he stated.

Dr. Zia Ul Qayyum, Executive Director of HEC, in his welcome address, emphasized the pivotal role of Founders Hub & AI Skilling in shaping an insightful and collaborative future in education and technology.

Hassan Nasir Jamy delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the pivotal role of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence in today’s world. “Adopting IT and AI is more than a choice; it’s a strategic necessity guiding our progress and unlocking new horizons for a future abundant in innovation, efficiency, and boundless opportunities,” he remarked.

The ceremony culminated with the formal signing of the ETA, a significant milestone in Pakistan’s educational landscape. Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman of HEC, expressed his enthusiasm about this collaboration. “Our agreement with Microsoft is a commitment to integrating technology into education, fostering an innovative spirit, and creating a dynamic learning environment for our students,” he concluded.
