Canada has announced an ambitious immigration plan for 2024-26

In 2024, the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) is expected to receive 32,000 immigrants. Canada has launched an ambitious Immigration Levels Plan for the years 2024-2026 in order to alleviate acute labour shortages, drive economic growth, and embrace global talent.

The immigration plan’s primary goal is to fill crucial labour force deficits in vital industries such as health, STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), trades, transportation, and agriculture. Canada intends to strategically target these areas in order to strengthen its workforce and generate economic growth.

The strategy, spearheaded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), seeks to welcome 485,000 new permanent residents in 2024, with projections growing to 500,000 in 2025 and remaining constant.
