Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan Sworn in as Chief Justice of Lahore High Court

In a solemn ceremony held at the Governor House in Lahore, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan took the oath as the new Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC), administered by Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman.

The swearing-in event, graced by dignitaries including Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and senior minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, marked the official transition of power from former Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti, who retired a day prior after a commendable 13-year tenure, holding the position for two years and eight months.

Justice Khan, a distinguished legal figure, assumes the prestigious role, set to serve until March 2025, at which point he will retire upon reaching the age of 62. The esteemed Justice Khan previously served as the acting LHC CJ on a temporary basis, stepping in during a period of transition.

Hailing from Pindi Gheb in the Attock district, Justice Khan brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, born on March 15, 1963. His appointment signifies a new chapter in the judicial landscape of Punjab, promising continuity and dedication to upholding the rule of law.
