Council of Islamic Ideology Identifies Ambiguities in SC Verdict on Mubarak Sani Case

5/5 - (1 vote)

During its 236th meeting, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) scrutinized the Supreme Court’s verdict regarding the Mubarak Sani case, highlighting ambiguities within certain clauses. Chaired by Qibla Ayaz, the CII finalized proposals aimed at enhancing the comprehensiveness of the court’s decision, which will be conveyed to the Supreme Court for consideration.

The apex court had previously directed its office to distribute copies of its February 6 judgment to the CII and other relevant entities to solicit their opinions. While acknowledging that the bail issue rested solely between the accused and the prosecution, the court invited institutions and individuals to contribute insights on the constitutional and religious aspects of the matter.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa emphasized the importance of rectifying any mistakes within the verdict, underscoring the need to assess both constitutional and religious dimensions. The CII’s engagement in this process signifies a collaborative effort to ensure a thorough examination of the case.

Additionally, the CII recommended the establishment of a robust Ulema board in Gilgit-Baltistan to promote peace and sectarian harmony, particularly in light of the region’s strategic significance for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Recognizing the economic implications of stability in the area, the council stressed the importance of maintaining peace and order.

Furthermore, the meeting urged traders to uphold Islamic values during the holy month of Ramadan by abstaining from hoarding and profiteering, emphasizing the sanctity of the occasion and the need for ethical business practices.

These developments reflect the CII’s commitment to facilitating dialogue and providing guidance on matters of religious and constitutional significance, contributing to the pursuit of justice and harmony within Pakistani society.
