According to figures from the Economic Affairs Division (EAD), Pakistan borrowed $4.285 billion from various funding sources during the first five months of the current fiscal year 2023–24, a significant fall of 16 percent from the $5.114 billion borrowed during the same period of 2022–23.

Additional information reveals that the nation got $415.99 million in November 2023—a 51 percent drop from $846.76 million in November 2022. The EAD data does not include the $1.2 billion that was received as the first tranche of the $3 billion Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) in July 2023, despite the government having budgeted $2.4 billion for the current fiscal year 2023–24 from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
