National Narcotics Crackdown: Over 2500 Kilograms Seized, 70 Arrested

The government’s recent crackdown on narcotics has led to a substantial haul of over 2500 kilograms of illicit substances seized across the nation during October. This operation, conducted in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, resulted in the arrest of more than 70 individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.

Different provinces contributed varying amounts to the total seizure. Balochistan and Sindh saw the confiscation of 1200 kilograms of narcotics, while Gilgit-Baltistan added 700 kilograms, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 400 kilograms, and Punjab 150 kilograms to the overall haul.

In Punjab, the confiscated substances included 120 kilograms of cannabis, 6 kilograms of heroin, 3 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 10 kilograms of opium. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa yielded 320 kilograms of cannabis, 10 kilograms of heroin, 20 kilograms of opium, and 12 kilograms of methamphetamine. Sindh’s contribution comprised 5 kilograms of heroin, 530 kilograms of cannabis, and 15 kilograms of methamphetamine. Balochistan’s share involved 450 kilograms of cannabis, 5 kilograms of heroin, and 25 kilograms of opium.

The crackdown resulted in the arrest of 25 individuals in Punjab, 10 in Sindh, 10 in Balochistan, and 30 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Since its initiation on September 1st, this concerted effort has led to the seizure of a staggering 30,780 kilograms of narcotics nationwide, with over 400 individuals apprehended for their involvement in the illegal drug trade.

The government, in collaboration with security forces and military leadership, is committed to taking stringent measures to safeguard the future of the youth and ensure national security by curbing the drug trade.
