In a ceremonial event held at the Governor’s House in Lahore, members of the provincial cabinets of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took the oath of office on Wednesday. The Punjab cabinet, consisting of 18 members under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, was administered the oath by Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman. Notably, the cabinet comprises only two female members.

Among the notable appointments, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb assumes a senior ministerial role, overseeing planning and development, environment, and forest portfolios. Additionally, Azma Bokhari takes charge of the information ministry. Maryam Nawaz has retained key members from her uncle Shehbaz Sharif’s previous cabinet, entrusting them with significant portfolios.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a 15-member cabinet, along with five advisers, was sworn in by Governor Haji Ghulam Ali. The new cabinet includes a diverse array of ministers appointed to various portfolios, ranging from commerce and industry to human rights.

The appointments signal a mix of experience and fresh talent, with an emphasis on youth and expertise in the respective fields. These developments mark the beginning of a new phase for governance in both provinces, with expectations high for the implementation of impactful policies and initiatives.
