Pakistan has requested that the UN Security Council (UNSC) look into the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) acquisition of cutting-edge military hardware in detail.
The Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, emphasised the serious threat that the TTP and its affiliates pose to Pakistan because of their coordinated cross-border terrorist attacks during the UNSC’s briefing on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

He emphasised the serious harm done to military and other installations, as well as the considerable loss of Pakistani soldiers and civilians in these attacks. Ambassador Akram brought up recent strikes carried out by affiliates of the TTP, highlighting the necessity of looking into how the terrorists obtained access to highly advanced equipment.
He stressed that this cutting-edge weaponry appeared to come from the enormous stockpiles that foreign armies had left behind. But he insisted on doing a more thorough investigation to find out how the TTP—a designated terrorist organization—got these weapons.

The stability of Afghanistan’s economy was another topic Ambassador Akram covered. He emphasised that interactions with the interim Afghan government should be predicated on how it responds to outside concerns. He emphasised that despite the interim government’s declarations of victory over Da’esh, several terrorist organisations seemed to be receiving sanctuary in Afghanistan thanks to the government’s protection.
